Additional activities
If you need ideas on what to do outside the scheduled program, here is a collection of tips for things to do in, and around, the castle. For more details, please speak to the staff at Ekolsund Castle.

Gym and Relax
A gym and relaxation area with sauna and spa bath is available in Canalladan. Speak with the staff for availability and booking.

Hiking around Hjälstaviken
Hjälstaviken is a nature reserve surrounding a shallow lake bordered by reeds and coastal meadows with grazing animals. There are also excellent opportunities for birdwatching, with lookout towers and hides. The full route around the lake is about 8 km, but for a slightly shorter walk, Stora Parnassen is located in the southern part of the nature reserve. A one‑kilometre trail leads through the area to a viewpoint and back. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the inn to Stora Parnassen.

Ekolsund Game Park
Ekolsund Game Park is part of the Hjälstaviken Nature Reserve. The entrance is located on the opposite side of the road from the inn. The land is grazed by fallow and red deer, which keep the landscape open.

Park and Arboretum
Ekolsund is currently Sweden’s largest private arboretum, with over 400 species of trees. Wander through the castle park and the surrounding forests and try to find them all. A map is available for purchase in the castle café for anyone who wants an overview.
